Ahmed El Serougui is currently pursuing his MA at the department of Sociology / Anthropology at the American University in Cairo (AUC). El Serougui has worked as a content editor at the “Arab Digital Expression Foundation” (ADEF) after his graduation with a double degree in Egyptian & French Law from Cairo University and La Sorbonne Paris I. El Serougui works on producing translations from a variety of texts; artistic and cultural critic, investigative journalism and theoretical texts. El Serougui is also a co-founder of the Seket Maaref translation lab; a collaborative translation space aiming at producing translated academic texts into Arabic. El Serougui takes special interest in the alternative educational spaces; aiming to build and consolidate communities of young researchers and activists that co-produce different kinds and levels of knowledge. El Serougui has taken part in a variety of academic workshops and initiatives; most notably a workshop with the “Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship” at the AUB around Arab activism and a “Collaborative learning in Anthropology” workshop in partnership with the University of Bern.
